Born in Germany, Krummeich (1886?-1965) studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Köln and University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania as a lecturer on the aesthetics of music in 1925, was named assistant professor in 1927, and became an associate professor in 1935, a position he held until 1951.
